Ingredients:
For the Crust:
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup ice water (as needed)
For the Filling:
- 6 cups thinly sliced apples (mix of Granny Smith and Honeycrisp)
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Instructions:
For the Crust:
- In a food processor, pulse together flour, sugar, and salt.
- Add cold, cubed butter and pulse until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Gradually add ice water, one tablespoon at a time, until the dough comes together.
- Divide the dough in half, shape into discs, wrap in plastic, and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
For the Filling:
- Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
- In a large bowl, combine sliced apples, sugar, lemon juice, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Toss until apples are evenly coated.
Assembling the Pie:
- Roll out one disc of pie dough to fit a pie dish.
- Place the rolled-out dough into the pie dish.
- Pour the apple filling into the pie crust.
- Roll out the second disc of pie dough and place it over the apple filling.
