Classic Beef Lasagna:
Ingredients:
For the Meat Sauce:
- 1 lb (450g) ground beef
- 1 onion, diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
- 2 cans (6 oz each) tomato paste
- 1/2 cup water
- 2 teaspoons dried oregano
- 2 teaspoons dried basil
- Salt and black pepper to taste
Other Ingredients:
- 12 lasagna noodles, cooked
- 3 cups ricotta cheese
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Fresh basil for garnish
Instructions:
For the Meat Sauce:
- In a large skillet, brown ground beef over medium heat. Drain excess fat.
- Add diced onions and minced garlic to the skillet, cooking until softened.
- Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, water, oregano, basil, salt, and black pepper. Simmer for 20-30 minutes.
Assembling the Lasagna:
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a baking dish, spread a layer of meat sauce.
- Arrange a layer of cooked lasagna noodles on top.
- Spread ricotta cheese over the noodles, followed by a layer of mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses.
- Repeat the layers, finishing with a generous layer of cheese on top.
- Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes or until the cheese is golden and bubbly.
- Allow the lasagna to rest for 10 minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh basil.
